Electric bikes: Product comparison
Choose an electric bike around your route and fit before comparing motor wattage. Distance, hills, surfaces and where you store the bike affect which compromises are sensible.

Daily commuting
Check riding position, lights, luggage mounting and secure parking. Include the weight of locks and bags when checking the permitted total load.
Hills and mixed surfaces
Look at gearing, brakes and the assistance system together. A motor wattage figure does not describe how the bike handles a steep climb.
Storage and transport
Measure your doorway, stairs or vehicle space. Check actual folded dimensions where relevant, and whether you can lift the bike with the battery installed.
What to check
Motor
compare the stated motor power, assistance system and intended terrain. A larger advertised wattage alone does not establish climbing ability or riding comfort.
Battery
amp-hours describe charge, not energy on their own. Compare watt-hours when available and check whether the battery is removable and replaceable.
Wheels
check wheel size, tyre type, frame dimensions and total permitted load. Advertised range depends on rider, terrain, speed and assistance level.
Examples from the catalog
These two catalog models illustrate a specification comparison. They are not a ranking of the whole market or recommendations for every use and budget.
Questions before buying
Can I compare batteries using Ah alone?
No. Energy also depends on voltage. Where comparable nominal values are supplied, Wh = V × Ah; also check replacement availability and whether removal is practical.
What if a specification is missing?
Do not treat a blank as zero or assume another variant’s feature applies. Open the product details, check the exact reference and ask the retailer for the missing information before deciding.

Storage: check usable space, memory-card support and the size of your photos, apps and videos. The operating system uses part of the advertised capacity.

Power: the advertised watts describe rated output under test conditions. Shade, orientation and temperature change real production; compare panel type and dimensions too.

Power: distinguish actual electrical consumption from an equivalent-watt marketing claim. More input power does not alone establish the useful light reaching the plants.
